Why Dutch Harvest hemp tea?

I am brought up in a loving Dutch frugal (sparing & economical) environment. And that certainly had its effect on me. A long time ago I exchanged The Netherlands (Holland) for the US, which allowed me to take the best from both countries and make it my own. I embrace the space and opportunities in the US and until this day I reuse and compost, and it not, recycle, anything I can. I see every day and life in general as an adventure and try to enjoy the world and nature to the fullest extent, all while leaving light footprints. Just like this tea! Growing Dutch Harvest Hemp Tea is good for the environment. It’s a very tasty, sustainable and honest product and it does leave a light footprint, just as I like it! More about this in my blog Sustainability of Dutch Harvest Hemp Tea - It's Earth Day! – Dutch Harvest Hemp Tea US

There is so much more to say, but that’s in summary why I want to bring this heavenly, sustainable, authentic and healthy but, above all, very tasty tea from The Netherlands (Holland) to you here in the US. The more I learn about it, the more it fascinates me and hopefully the same goes for you.
On my website you will find a lot of information and I will be sharing more in my blogs (sign up for the blogs/newsletters here Dutch Harvest Hemp Tea US). And of course, you can always ask me questions through Contact – Dutch Harvest Hemp Tea US

What does hemp tea taste like?

The taste? Mild, fresh and slightly sweet with a bit of a spicy aftertaste. It’s often called a ‘mild, somewhat sweet version of green tea’.

Our hemp tea is available as 100% pure hemp. But we have also developed four delicious hemp blends. We have carefully composed these blends in collaboration with a tea sommelier.

All our teas are 100% organic. And of course, we only use real herbs. No artificial flavors, no sugar, no… Nothing! Just as mother nature intended.

You can find detailed descriptions about the taste of each blend with each product on the Products page.

Where does Dutch Harvest hemp tea come from?

The hemp plants that make our heavenly hemp tea, are grown in Groningen, in the North of the Netherlands. We sow the seeds at the beginning of May. The hemp plants grow incredibly fast, and by half August they are over 10 feet tall. That is when the harvest crew of Dun Agro comes in with their special hemp harvesting machines. They separate the leaves and flowers from the stems of the plant. Next, we dry them and cut them – not too small! – so that they nicely fit into your tea strainer.

Then a dedicated job starts: packing the tea. This is all done by hand, at a social enterprise in also in The Netherlands. This organization provides sheltered employment to people with disabilities.

With great precision and dedication every employee fulfills one step in the process. Opening the bags, weighing exactly 40 grams, folding the bag and neatly closing it with the tin strip.

When done, the tea is ready to come our way!

How do I prepare hemp tea?

Instructions:

  • Use 2 tablespoons hemp per 1 quart, or 1 teaspoon for 1 cup of hemp tea.
  • Pour boiling water,
  • Let your tea steep for 5-7 minutes.

The longer you steep your tea, the stronger the flavors will come out.

Is there caffeine in hemp tea?

Hemp tea is naturally free of caffeine making it a relaxing cup of tea for the evening.

How much CBD does Dutch Harvest hemp tea contain?

Since we don’t extract the CBD and CBDA from the hemp plant, but we use the pure hemp leaves and flowers instead, we cannot guarantee a fixed percentage of CBD per cup of hemp tea. Because every flower is different and contains a different level of CBD. However, we measure the CBD and CBDA levels regularly and we find roughly the same results each time: our hemp tea contains roughly 1,12 % of total CBD (CBD + CBDA). When you translate this into a cup of tea for which you use 1 gram (1 teaspoon) of our hemp, it means 1,12 mg. CBD. As a matter of comparison: 1 drop of CBD oil of 2,75% total CBD contains 1,28 mg. CBD.

Be aware: not all CBD will be absorbed completely into your cup of tea. By steeping the hemp tea longer or adding more hemp, you can increase the amount of CBD in your cup.

What is CBD and CBDA?

CBD (Cannabidiol) is one of the most important active compounds that naturally occurs in the hemp plant. It is produced in the hemp flowers at the moment of blossoming. CBD is often called the antagonist of THC. The effect of CBD is very different from that of THC and it is non-psychoactive. So CBD does not get you high or stoned! On the other hand, more and more people are using CBD for medicinal reasons, or as part of a healthy lifestyle.

CBDA (CBD-Acid) is the ‘acid’ variety of CBD. It resembles CBD to a large extent, and also the medicinal effect of CBDA is increasingly being researched. CBDA can transfer into CBD when you heath it, for instance by steeping it in hot water for tea. Also, oxidation can cause the transfer of CBDA into CBD.

What is the difference between hemp tea and CBD tea?

‘Hemp tea’ refers to tea that is made of hemp flowers and/or hemp leaves. The word ‘hemp’ is mostly used for the cannabis variety that does not contain THC and that is not psychoactive. Hemp tea does contain CBD and CBDA, especially when it is made from the flowers of hemp.

‘CBD tea’ refers to tea that contains CBD. Pretty much all hemp flowers contain CBD, so every tea that contains hemp flowers can be qualified as CBD tea. The same is true for our Dutch Harvest teas. However sometimes, manufacturers add extra CBD extracts artificially to the tea. This can increase the CBD content of the tea. We don’t do this, since we like to serve you the hemp plant in the way nature created it. So we prefer to call our tea a hemp tea instead of a CBD tea, because that does justice to the entire goodness of the hemp plant.

Is there THC in Dutch Harvest hemp Tea?

The THC in hemp tea is negligible. Our tea is made from ‘fiber hemp’ also called 'industrial hemp'. These plants are officially allowed to have a THC content of 0.2%. This is the safety standard within Europe where our tea is made, and it is so low that there is absolutely no psychoactive effect on the body. In our hemp tea the THC is even much lower than this standard. We measure the THC with every harvest and it is always around 0.01%, 20 times lower than the norm and absolutely safe to use.

Is Dutch Harvest hemp tea good for you?

CBD is being used more and more frequently for various health reasons or ailments. We are therefore regularly asked what the benefits of hemp tea with CBD are. However, we are not allowed to make any statements about this as we are not a doctor but a seller of hemp tea. But fortunately, a lot of research has been done into the effects of CBD. We advise you to look for more information about CBD online. What we can share is that we have many recurring customers who find our tea calming, soothing and relaxing and also very tasty. Often times our customers drink the tea before going to sleep.
